Enhancing Schizophrenia Prevention and Recovery through Innovative Treatments - ESPRIT

The German multicenter research network ESPRIT is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) and investigates new innovative treatment and prevention methods for schizophrenia. The focus of the studies conducted in Berlin is on individuals at increased risk for developing schizophrenia and on those in an early stage of the disease. Besides pharmacological treatment options, the study also addresses the effects of psychological interventions and exercise. In addition to the efficacy of these interventions, the project explores predictors for a favorable course of the disorder, with a special focus on neurobiological and genetic mechanisms. For more information see the homepage of the project and of the BMBF.
